With advice from renowned Peter Sisseck, creator of the famous Pingus wine, Bodega Quinta Sardonia has gained popularity for its Vino de la Tierra de Castille and León wines. The end of the 1990s was the right time for Jérome Bougnaud, technical director of Pingus to start his own estate along the western border of Ribera del Duero. Together with Peter Sisseck and eight family and friends, they secured a significant investment for Jérome's own estate.
This massive project covering 17 hectares on 11 different chalky terroirs was fully biodynamic from the beginning and allowed Peter Sisseck to apply his years of experience he gained from Pingus, located 8 kilometers away. The result is a youthful vineyard of great complexity and vibrancy, focused on Tinto Fino and dotted with Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec. Each plot is harvested separately, and the vines, fertilised with the property's own compost, are picked based on the soil type, not the variety

The Estate wine Quinta Sardonia is an excellent blended Tempranillo red. The flavor variety is wide and powerful- Cassis, plums, cherries, pepper, dark chocolate, and a hint of mint. Quinta Sardonia 2015 reveals fullness and strength on the palate, but is silky and balanced with perfectly rounded tannins. In a continuous harmony of vanilla tones accompanied by smoky undertones, it completes the pleasure experience until the very end. Best opened two hours before serving, no decanting needed!
