Glenelly Estate is a beautiful winery in Stellenbosch, South Africa that is pretty well known for their Bordeaux style wines. What's the link between South Africa and Bordeaux you ask? May de Lencquesaing’s and her family legacy.

May de Lencquesaing was a former owner of the famous Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, a Grand Cru Classé from Pauillac, Bordeaux. At the elegant age of 78, she fell in love with the soils of South Africa and decided to combine the land with her French heritage- bringing you Glenelly Estate. Such an inspiration to have so much ambition for her age, no?

In addition to Lady May, the winery's flagship red wine made from a single vineyard, Glenelly Estate also has 2 other lines of wines: Estate Reserve and Glass collection.

Estate Reserve
These wines are the winery's signature, with the red being a blend that combines the rich and spicy savoury character of the Syrah with the fruity, floral character of Cabernet Sauvignon and with touches of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

The chardonnay is whatever you look for in a dry white- wonderfully bright crisp colour, with vibrant citrus and a creamy texture.

"With a green, herbal nose of dried olive leaf, mentho-lyptus and sage, the 2015 Estate Reserve Red offers elements of dusty plum and blackberry. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is youthful. At its current state, it's food friendly and will remain so well past its tenth birthday." - The Wine Advocate, 89+ points.

Glenelly Estate Reserve Chardonnay 2015

"The 2015 Estate Reserve Chardonnay has a lovely, quite powerful bouquet with discretely integrated oak, hints of smoked walnut and orange rind developing closely behind, keeping very Burgundy-like. The palate is well balanced with plenty of roundness on the entry. This lacquers the mouth with citrus fruit laced with orange zest and a touch of almond, fanning out gently on the finish to complete what is just a delicious Chardonnay that you will finish all too quickly." - The Wine Advocate, 92 points
