Domaine Ponsot is pretty much the Brad Pitt of Burgundy, producing premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines- so in demand that counterfeits are produced and S$1.95 million is made from their recent Domaine Ponsot Auction.

To mark its 150th Anniversary, Domaine Ponsot held an auction for 400 bottles which sold for a whopping CHF1.345m or S$1.956 million. The rare jewels include 2 magnum lots of Clos de la Roche, Cuvée Vieilles Vignes 1985 (~S$76.3K), a magnum of Griotte-Chambertin 1990 (~S$15.4K) and even a magnum of Clos de la Roche 1959 (~S$50.9K).

What's affordable? ...3 bottles of Morey-St-Denis ‘Monts Luisants’ Blanc 1961, 1966 and 1969 (~$12.7K). Just a little under S$4,250 for a bottle of vintage Domaine Ponsot, if you think about it really. A big chunk of the proceeds will be donated to a charity that supports children afflicted by cancer or leukaemia, cheers to that!

"The 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos des Monts Luisants Blanc has turned out very nicely in bottle, mingling scents of pear and white flowers with hints of beeswax, toasted almonds and petrol. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and chiseled, it's nicely concentrated, with tangy acids and a layered core of fruit."
