Domaine Michel Gros, Clos Vougeot Grand Maupertuis Grand Cru 2018
"Coming the southwest corner of this site and from 40-year-old vines, the 2018 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Le Grand Maupertui was all destemmed and aged in one-third new French oak. Rocking black cherry, violets, spring flowers, sandalwood, and incense notes give way to a medium to full-bodied, focused, structured wine that has fine tannins, considerable elegance, and a great finish. Give bottles 2-4 years and enjoy over the following two decades."

"A beguiling red that draws you in with its haunting perfume of black cherry, blackberry, flowers and spice. The toasty oak is more prominent on the palate, yet all of the components are well-proportioned, with a vein of mineral opening on the long aftertaste. An impressive display of finesse and power."
