Glenelly Estate, The Glass Collection Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
At the age of 78, May de Lencquesaing, then the owner of the iconic Chateau Pichon Comtesse de Lalande, a Grand Cru Classe from Pauillac, in Bordeaux, started a new venture on South African Soil, and purchased Glenelly Estate. With a nod to the French Huguenots settlers and after cautious study of the terroir, she built a thriving winery that best utilises the soils and microclimate of the valley and supports local economic development and community.
The wine develops a very complex nose with flavours like cassis, blackcurrant, cherry, a touch of spices and perfume. Good tannin structure, perfect balance and length, with flavours of cedar, dried cherry and blackcurrant on the palate.
THE GLASS COLLECTION
The iconic Bordeaux varietal finds a unique expression at Glenelly, reflecting the unique terroir. Elegant yet powerful, with a great concentration of fruit on the palate perfectly supported by well-integrated wood and fine tannins, it will age well for several years before reaching its peak.
