Glenelly Estate The Glass Collection Chardonnay 2020
Rated 88 points by Wine Spectator.
At the age of 78, May de Lencquesaing, then the owner of the iconic Chateau Pichon Comtesse de Lalande, a Grand Cru Classe from Pauillac, in Bordeaux, started a new venture on South African Soil, and purchased Glenelly Estate. With a nod to the French Huguenots settlers and after cautious study of the terroir, she built a thriving winery that best utilises the soils and microclimate of the valley and supports local economic development and community.
The Glass Collection Chardonnay is an unoaked chardonnay, which means that it is exclusively fermented in stainless steel vats at a low temperature. It has bright and brilliant colour with a slight green hue. The wine has complex aromas of citrus, lychee and pear. On the palate, there is a beautiful round comforting texture with wonderful length and intense fruit complexity and a zesty lime and lemon notes.
THE GLASS COLLECTION
The Glass Collection Chardonnay is a natural ferment and unoaked Chardonnay, with a superb blend of freshness, complexity and a wonderful length from spending time on the lees.
